FAQs - Trust & Safety Research Conference
CONFERENCE FAQs
The conference will not be recorded or live streamed, but will be considered on record. Members of the press will be present. Please see the recording and photography policy below:
Recording & Photography Policy
This is a fully in-person conference. The event will not be recorded or live-streamed. Recording of any kind — including audio, video, or live-streaming — is not permitted in any session or space at the event. This policy is in place to foster open, honest, and trust-based dialogue among participants.
Photography is permitted, but we ask that photos only be taken and shared with the consent of those being photographed. Please note we will have a professional photographer at the event. If you would like access to photos post-event, please contact tsrconference@stanford.edu. Social media sharing (quotes, impressions, general photos) is welcome with consent, unless a session or speaker explicitly requests otherwise. Please be mindful of context when posting.
There is no hotel block or discounted accommodations pricing, but you can find a full list of local hotels with varying price ranges on our Accommodations & Transportation page.
We prioritize proposals that meet the following criteria:
The abstract clearly articulates the research question and findings
The submission explicitly benefits trust and safety as a field and/or practice
The submission introduces new voices and/or perspectives
The proposal is not a product pitch
The lead author should submit the application form. The application has a place for the lead author to provide the name(s), email(s), and institutional affiliation(s) for coauthors. If the proposal is accepted for a research presentation, two individuals can co-present. If the proposal is accepted for a lightning talk, only one person can present. Please do not submit the same research more than once under different authors.
We encourage you to submit only one proposal prioritizing the work you are most interested in presenting. You are welcome to submit more than one proposal, but we are unlikely to accept more than one presentation from the same presenter.
Unfortunately, we are not able to provide travel funding to presenters. We do offer presenters a discount on their conference registration, and are happy to provide a letter verifying that you presented should it be required for institutional reimbursement.
No. Most conference presentations will be from people who do not have an article in the journal.
Yes. All individuals interested in presenting must submit an application. If your paper is accepted, you will have a guaranteed presentation slot. If your paper is not accepted, you may still be able to get a presentation slot if you submitted an application.
The Journal of Online Trust and Safety will publish a Conference Proceedings for the Trust and Safety Research Conference. The deadline for peer-reviewed submissions for the 2026 Conference Proceedings Issue is May 1, 2026. The deadline for editorials and commentaries is June 1, 2026. The issue will be published in September 2026.
If your peer-reviewed paper or commentary is accepted you will have a guaranteed presentation slot at the conference.
Please find submission information here. Check out Conference Proceedings for 2025 Trust and Safety Research Conference here.
TSRC 2026 takes place at the Frances C. Arrillaga Alumni Center (326 Galvez St, Stanford). The venue is wheelchair accessible throughout:
- Entrances: The main entrance has a power-operated door, with a second accessible entrance on the Campus Drive (north) side leading into the Fisher Conference Center. An elevator behind the reception area serves all floors.
- Restrooms: All restrooms are wheelchair accessible, with multi-occupancy restrooms on every floor and single-occupancy restrooms on the 1st and 3rd floors.
- Parking & transit: Accessible parking is available along Galvez Street and Memorial Way, and the nearest Marguerite Shuttle stop is on Galvez Street directly in front of the Alumni Center.
- Lactation room: A private mother's/wellness room is located on the 2nd floor (the upstairs health room), with a washable chair, table, "boppy" pillow, wipes, and outlets; a restroom and sink are nearby, and a second private room is available if the first is in use. Sign-ups are in the folder outside the door (30-minute slots). The elevator requires a key card, so ask the receptionist in the lobby for access.
If you need disability-related accommodation or wheelchair access information, please contact us at tsrconference@stanford.edu. Requests should be made by September 12th.
For full building details, see Stanford's Campus Access Guide entry for the Alumni Center.
